Digital Telecommunications Systems Technician (East River Electric Power Cooperative - South Dakota)

East River Electric Power Cooperative, located in Madison, South Dakota, is accepting applications for a Digital Telecommunications Systems Technician. 

 

The person hired for this position will assist in the installation, operation and maintenance of the Cooperative’s 2.4 and 5.8 GHz spread-spectrum radios, 6 GHz microwave radios, fiber optic system, SONET multiplexers, digital channel banks, remote terminal units and associated equipment.  Experience with Cisco and Alcatel SONET multiplexers and Alcatel digital microwave radios would be beneficial.    Tower climbing will be required.  

 

Education and background minimum requirements:

Applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., 2-year certificate from a vocational-technical school in electronics or communications, or five years experience in electronics maintenance.  Must possess or obtain the following: a general class FCC License or equivalent certification within two years of employment; a valid South Dakota driver’s license within two weeks of employment and a DOT medical examiner’s certificate.  

 

East River Electric is a wholesale power supply cooperative that delivers wholesale power through a 2,600-mile transmission system to 21 member electric distribution systems throughout eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota.
