Operations Assistant (Harrison County REC - Iowa)
Harrison County Rural Electric Cooperative, Woodbine, IA is seeking a well qualified and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Operations Assistant.
Harrison County Rural Electric Cooperative is a member owned rural electric utility established in 1936.
Requirements for the position include an extensive knowledge of electricity and materials and supplies associated with electric power distribution work including overhead and underground line construction and maintenance. The successful candidate should be familiar with electric distribution operations as well as light duty consumer wiring. This position involves a variety of duties and skills including material purchasing, inventory maintenance, work order drafting, customer relations, and the preparation and generation of certain material and construction billing invoices.
The successful candidate will possess excellent written and oral communications skills, the ability to work with others, accept instruction and direction, and interact with the public. A working knowledge of cooperative business practices and electric distribution system operations is desired. This individual will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations. The successful candidate should possess excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accept responsibility and make decisions within the range of duties as assigned.
A college degree in a related field is preferred but may be substituted with experience and other professional training. A minimum of five (5) years experience in electrical work and/or electric distribution system operations is required. Consideration may be given to any candidate who demonstrates the skills and proficiency necessary to fulfill the duties required. Stand by (on call) duty is also required.
Proficiency in the use of a personal computer is also required. This position requires a general understanding of bookkeeping and basic business practices.
