Journeyman Lineman (Harrison County REC - Iowa)
Harrison County Rural Electric Cooperative is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman.
Qualified applicants must possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), have completed a formal certified journeyman lineman training program and/or electric line worker school, or must have a minimum of 6-8 years of experience in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground power lines and related activities.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate skills and proficiency necessary to perform the duties required of the position. A clean driving record is required.
Applicants must possess a thorough knowledge of electrical safety procedures and OSHA requirements. Familiarity with the operation of both digger derricks and basket trucks is desired.
Familiarity with electrical distribution systems is essential and previous electric cooperative experience is also preferred.
All applicants must be willing and able to work after hours and weekends when necessary. Standby (on call) duty is also a requirement. Residency within 35 minutes from the Woodbine headquarters facility is essential.
The successful applicant must pass a pre-employment, post-offer physical exam and drug/alcohol screening. Background checks including personal references, criminal history, and driving records will be conducted. Harrison County Rural Electric Cooperative does have a random drug testing policy.
The successful candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills and have the ability to work in harmony with others and have a willingness to accept instruction and direction at all times. Proficiency in personal computers is desired, but not essential.
