General Manager (Minnesota)
Due to the retirement of the current General Manager, the Board of Directors of Red Lake Electric Cooperative (RLEC) seeks qualified candidates for this position. RLEC is a member-owned electric cooperative with 21 employees serving over 5,000 meters in northwestern Minnesota. The distribution system has 2,559 miles of line and is primarily overhead construction. RLEC has an excellent record of quality service, low rates, and good member relations.
The Board seeks candidates with at least five years management or supervisory experience within electric utility field, preferably the rural electric program. Experience in electric utility finance, system operations, member relations, or engineering is desired. A four-year college degree in engineering, business, or accounting is preferred, but consideration will be given to candidates with extensive electric utility experience. Candidates must have leadership experience in civic and/or community organizations.
The RLEC headquarters is located in the town of Red Lake Falls with a population of just over 1,500. Red Lake Falls is the county seat of Red Lake County and has numerous opportunities for community involvement, recreation, high school sporting events, fishing, hunting, and cultural events. There are two medical clinics in town and regional hospitals located 16, 24 and 45 miles away. Local public and private schools offer excellent educational and extra-curricular activities. There are numerous post-secondary educational opportunities at colleges and technical schools in communities nearby.
