Focusing on Children's Safety
May 18, 2007
-- Make sure there are safety covers on all unused outlets that are accessible to children.
-- Never fly kites around overhead electric lines or climb trees near overhead electric lines.
-- Never trespass on or around pad-mounted electrical equipment and transformers (green metal boxes). If the cabinet lock is open or the door has been tampered with, contact your local electric cooperative
-- Never place halogen lamps in children's bedrooms or playrooms.
-- Never tug on an electrical cord or plug.
-- Never touch an electrical appliance with wet hands.
-- Never play near signs warning "Danger High Voltage" or green boxes called pad-mounted transformers.
Parents, please remember to:
-- Keep all electrical cords out of reach and out of sight to prevent children and pets from pulling appliances off of tables or counters.
-- Put safety covers on all wall outlets. Avoid ornamental safety caps that may tempt a child to play with wall outlets.
-- Never leave lamp sockets empty; always replace burned out light bulbs immediately.
