Dept. of Energy Survey Shows Basin Ranks in Top Ten for Renewable Energy Sales
The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has released its annual ranking of leading utility green power programs. Basin Electric was ranked eighth in renewable energy sales. For NREL's media release and the related charts, visit:

Basin Electric Power Cooperative (Basin Electric) is one of the largest electric generation and transmission (G&T) cooperatives in the United States. Our core business is generating and delivering electricity to wholesale customers, primarily our member systems.
Basin Electric owns 2,499 megawatts (MW) and operates a total of 3,412 MW of electric generating capacity of which 953 MW is for participants in the Missouri Basin Power Project (MBPP), a group of six consumer-owned utilities. Electricity from their base-load power plants and other facilities is distributed by 120 member systems to 1.8 million consumers in nine states including several electric cooperatives in northwest Iowa.
Basin Electric owns and maintains 2,568 miles of high-voltage transmission lines, 49 switchyards and substations, and 60 microwave installations used for communications and system protection. Our service territory spans 430,000 square miles in the central United States from the Canadian border to Mexico, including parts of North Dakota, South Dakota
