Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO) is currently accepting applications for the Area Supervisor -Wilton Operations position. This position supervises operations and maintenance of CIPCO owned facilities in the Wilton area.


  • Supervise team: assign and monitor work assignments, providing ongoing feedback to team members; recommend salary increases and adjustments; assist in interviewing and selecting new hires; assess and recommend employee training; address employee complaints; coach and counsel team members for performance; participate in disciplinary actions or other appropriate actions per policies and procedures in conjunction with Manager of System Operations and Human Resources.
  • Recommend and monitor the operating department budget and expenditures for the Wilton operating areas.
  • Implement and coordinate the preventative maintenance programs of the Cooperative in the Wilton operating area.
  • Maintain a working relationship with CIPCO System managers and operating personnel and responds to their power supply problems in the service areas of the five member cooperatives in the Wilton operating area.
  • Monitor and analyze monthly and annual outage reports and recommends methods of reducing service interruptions in the Wilton operating area to the Manager of System Operations.
  • Monitor electrical equipment reliability and analyzes failures and recommends necessary corrective action for equipment in the Wilton operating area to the Manager of System Operations.
  • Hire and supervise transmission, substation, and administrative personnel in the Wilton operating area.
  • Coordinate job and safety training for operating personnel in the Wilton operating area.
  • Maintain interconnection and billing meters to ensure accurate energy and demand recordings in the Wilton and the Integrated areas.
  • Implement and maintain required records for compliance of regulatory required programs including Iowa Utility Board Inspection Programs, NERC, EPA PCB compliance, etc. in the Wilton operating area.
  • Coordinate and monitor new construction, maintenance, road move, etc. projects to ensure compliance with Engineering or System Operating Department specifications in the Wilton operating area.
  • Report operating problems and problem-solving progress in the Wilton operating area to the Manager of System Operations.
  • Coordinate and recommend the purchase of inventory material, equipment, supplies and vehicles in the Wilton operating area to the Manager of System Operations.
  • Coordinate emergency services restoration and crew activities during major outages in the Wilton operating area and other areas as assigned.
  • Work with private property owners and negotiates damage settlements resulting from operating activities in the Wilton operating area.

Requirements and Critical Success Factors

  • High School diploma or GED with a minimum of ten years of experience in electric power engineering, construction or maintenance, or an equivalent combination education and experience;
  • Experience with budgeting, supervision, and labor relations.
