Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative, one of Iowa’s largest electric Cooperatives, seeks to hire a full-time Senior Accountant to work from our headquarters in Anamosa, IA.

We are one of the largest electric cooperatives in the state, providing electric and internet/phone services to 14,000 members in nine east-central Iowa counties.  We have more than 80 years of experience serving local communities.  We offer a positive work environment with paid vacation, paid sick leave and 11 paid holidays.


Responsibilities include:

  • Payroll duties including processing pay calculation and update, month-end reports, creating direct deposit and journal entries, review of payroll audit reports
  • Prepare and post journal entries including payroll tax, state tax, power bills, outstanding loans, fixed and other entries
  • Prepare W-2’s and 1099 forms; assist in year-end reporting; prepare Federal and State quarterly payroll
  • Process Accounts Payable

 

Requirements

Requirements of position:

  • BS Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Able to read, analyze and interpret bank statements and financial statements. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
