Our electric cooperative was formed in 1945 by the members, for the members. For over 70 years, we have been building a legacy of providing safe, reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible electric service for our members. Today, we serve over 6,100 accounts in portions of seven southern Iowa counties. We are a Touchstone Energy Cooperative headquartered in Albia, IA. We support and care about the communities that we serve. We are deliberately different in every aspect of the word. Focusing on meeting our members' needs while ensuring quality, reliable service with safety at the forefront sets us apart from other organizations.

As a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative, our main objective is to provide our members with excellent service. And, in order to do that, we must ensure our employees are the best of the best! Here, you are not just an employee, you are part of a family; and, as such, you will receive the resources, education, and training to be the best in your field!

As a Field Technician, you are the face of our electrical cooperative to many of our members as you route electric distribution lines to serve their property. So, you always make sure to present yourself professionally. After greeting them warmly, you listen carefully to their needs and provide excellent customer service to them on matters such as obtaining a right-of-way, determining new services, and upgrading existing services.

You plan and layout distribution lines in accordance with professional and industry-specific standards in a way that is most advantageous to both the electric cooperative and the landowner involved. Your project management skills come into play as you coordinate the work plans with other personnel to ensure that work is done according to specifications. You are so glad that you don't have to sit at a desk all day but enjoy going out in the field and interacting with a variety of people throughout the day.

Typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM. May be required to work beyond normal hours for the completion of duties.

  • Associate's or technical degree in electrical technology, powerline technology, GIS, project management or related field.
  • 5 years of experience directly related to distribution electric construction
  • 3 years of experience working with the public in a sales, customer service, or technical support position
  • Ability to pass periodic drug tests
  • Ability to travel out-of-town from time to time for technical seminars, conferences, or for outage restorations
  • Basic computer proficiency

Are you committed to the highest standards of customer service? Can you prioritize tasks effectively? Are you analytical and able to read maps? Do you take pride in your work? Are you committed to safety? If so, you might just be perfect for this Staking & Field Technician position.
