Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives

EXCELLENCE AWARDS

IAEC established the Iowa Electric Cooperative Excellence Awards in 2025 to recognize the exceptional contributions of employees and directors within the Iowa electric cooperative system.

Any active employee or director of an IAEC-member cooperative may nominate one active employee or director of an IAEC-member cooperative per calendar year. Nominated individuals should embody an extraordinary commitment to the 7 Cooperative Principles and have notably enhanced the reputation or function of the electric cooperative system beyond the normal scope of their role as an employee or director. This is not necessarily a lifetime achievement award; the program is meant to celebrate an individual’s recent outstanding contribution such as a successful solution, project or course of action.

2026 Application Form

Applications will be accepted from January through September 30 each year. A panel of judges familiar with Iowa electric cooperatives will select up to one qualified electric cooperative director to receive a Director Excellence Award and up to one qualified electric cooperative employee to receive an Employee Excellence Award. More details are noted in the application form above.

The award(s) will be presented during IAEC’s Annual Meeting in December. Award recipients may also be featured in Iowa Electric Cooperative Living magazine.

Congratulations to our 2025 recipients:

2025 Director Excellence Award:
Jerry Beck, Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative

2025 Employee Excellence Award:
Robert Wakehouse, director of operations at Harrison County REC
