How It Works

Everyone is expected to participate in some way. You’ll rank your preferred role in the co-op by May 17 using this form:

Roles in the Cooperative

  • Board of Directors
    Oversees the co-op, selects and “hires” the manager, and meets three times during the week (plus breakfast together daily). Board elections happen at Orientation on June 15.

  • Manager
    Handles day-to-day operations and can “hire” an employee to help. These are paid positions—with free snacks!

  • Employee
    Assists with routine operations like stocking and selling. Also earns free snacks!

  • Member
    Everyone is a member! You’ll attend the co-op’s annual meeting at the end of the trip, where the board and manager will report on operations and officially dissolve the co-op. If there are leftover funds (called margins), the board may issue capital credits—a refund to members!

💡 Note: Serving as a board member, manager, or employee does NOT disqualify you from applying for the Youth Leadership Council (YLC).


Joining the Co-op

  • Membership Fee: Just $1—bring cash to Orientation!

  • Punch Cards: Available at Orientation for $5 each. These cards are used to “purchase” snacks and drinks throughout the trip.
